Recently I posted about how it was time that I started prioritising self-love and self-care and take some 'time out' from general life stresses and focus on having some more 'me time'. I decided that this weekend was a good time to start practicing what I preached and spent a day out with my daughter and my mum without worrying about anything by taking a trip to Walberswick coast where we had a lovely time.
This place was perfect to go to for me to feel vitalised, refreshed and relaxed and as the title of this post suggests "the waves of the sea help me get back to me". There's no better feeling than going to the coast and feeling the sand beneath your toes, breathing in the lovely sea air, feel the sunshine beating down on you, the feel of the cold sea on your toes and of course the best bit is the sounds of the waves. Listening to the sounds of the waves helps you get lost in your mind taking away all worries and stresses, its like the sea breeze blows them away and you can close your eyes and listen to the waves and for me today it helped me to feel more positive and chirpy again, it was a well needed day out.
Walberswick is a lovely place, (if you are ever near by you must go visit). This quiet, peaceful little village right on the coast is historically home to the largest crabbing competition and is a popular place for crabbing. This coast, heath and marshland is listed as an area of outstanding natural beauty and it really is. Read more about Walberswick here.
We began our day out in Walberswick of course with crabbing. This is something I have enjoyed ever since I was a little girl and I was privileged to take my own daughter crabbing to enjoy what I used to love spending my summer most doing as a child. We caught 14 crabs, okay not as many as my record of 250+ but hey its a start for my daughters first ever time crabbing. She named her first crab she caught 'Frankie'. So here meet Frankie ...
Obviously once we had finished crabbing and it was time to put the crabs back safely in the water we had a crab race to see which crab made it back to the water first. Sadly, Frankie didn't win but he did make it safely back to the water ready to go out with the tide back to sea. After all that crabbing we began to get peckish so we had our picnic on Walberswick health where they do the crabbing and enjoyed watching the other people crab. Our picnic of course consisted of Granny's famous egg sandwiches!!! YUM!
Then we headed to the beach, the best bit where I could listen to the sound of the sea, feel the sand beneath my toes and enjoy a paddle in the sea. This helped me to spend some time focusing on myself and positive thoughts, as this title states 'the waves of the sea help me get back to me'. Spending time on Walberswick beach helped me spend time focusing on what I said i would do on self-love and self-care.
This was a perfect day with the perfect people. Who better to spend a day with to encourage me to prioritise practicing my self-love and self-care than with my mum and daughter. I have decided that i need to spend my summer spending more time doing days like this to keep up my positivity and to focus a little bit on myself instead of always just trying to make everyone else happy. And of course the day ended with Ice Cream and feeding the Seagulls are crusts from our sandwiches.
I now feel like I am back to me, I can be me, be happy and positive with beginning my challenge of prioritising self-love and self-care. I am excited to see what other days I spend out to help me along my journey....!
And remember guys, it is important to spend sometime focusing on yourself and your family. Even if you have to spend some time out from the reality of life stresses that may be going on. Self-love and self-care is so important I cannot stress that enough.
Until next time, Bye for now,
FOREVER GiGi .xo.xo.
